Learn about Arrowtown's living history

Join us for a leisurely one and a half hour stroll around beautiful Arrowtown. We will entertain and inform you about the history of our town and the surrounding area.

Arrowtown has many beautifully preserved buildings and other areas thanks to the dedication of a passionate community. There is a story to tell around every corner and we love passing these stories on to visitors and locals alike.

Among other things, we will stroll along Arrowtown's avenue of trees which was planted in 1867 and is now a major feature of our annual autumn festival. We will visit the jail which certainly has a few tales to tell! A visit to the cottage once lived in by Australia's only Saint, Sister Mary MacKillop, and a short walk up 'Soldier Hill' to look out over the prettiest town in New Zealand.

There are plenty of stories to be told along the way about the incredibly hardy miners and settlers that came to live in what was then an extremely remote area of the world.
